Bidness: Cisco Bets on Slack’s Model, Splashes Another $650 Million in Strategic Expansions
Yesterday, Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO) announced a $500 million investment in Germany for a three-year period and another $150 million to bolster its collaboration tool, Spark, to take on the popular Slack enterprise messaging service. Moreover, the company has acquired San Francisco-based cloud-search startup, Synata Inc. for an undisclosed sum. The news comes after the company has already paid over $300 million to acquire Israeli chipmaker, Leaba and $260 million for cloud company CliQr a week ago.
