Baylor College of Medicine Deploys CliQr for Cloud Application Provisioning and Management
CliQr’s CloudCenter helps Baylor IT quickly and efficiently deliver compute intensive research applications in a private cloud
Santa Clara, Calif., March 10—CliQr, the leader in hybrid cloud migration and management, today announced that Baylor College of Medicine, a premier health sciences university known for its excellence in education, research and patient care, has deployed CliQr’s CloudCenter platform to deliver information technology as a service and manage applications in their private cloud. This partnership now gives Baylor researchers self-service, on-demand access and responsiveness, with the ability to centrally control which applications they deploy and where they deploy them.
Previously, Baylor users were going directly to the public cloud to deploy applications for big data computations, visualizations and complex algorithms. Baylor IT is now able to provide a private cloud using Cisco’s Unified Computing System (UCS) director for physical hardware, VMware for virtual machine management and CliQr for application provisioning and management. The simple but flexible solution provides automation as well as cloud and application support by giving researchers rapid self-service access to critical applications while delivering centralized efficiency and control. The new system will also meet governance and regulatory requirements that mandate more centralized application and data management.
“We were running into challenges with shadow IT because of slow IT service provisioning and knew that a private cloud could address both user need for speed and IT need for control,” said Alexander Izaguirre, vice president and CTO of Information Technology at Baylor College of Medicine. “CliQr CloudCenter’s ability to automate provisioning and manage complex application stacks as well as easily integrate with existing third party tools was pivotal in our decision in choosing CliQr. CliQr’s application focused approach will allow us to expand across additional departments and utilize a hybrid cloud strategy deploying applications in any cloud without time-intensive recoding or re-architecting.”
“CliQr is excited to be helping Baylor College of Medicine realize the full potential of the cloud and continue their work toward medical breakthroughs,” said Gaurav Manglik, CEO and co-founder of CliQr. “With CliQr CloudCenter, Baylor can deliver public cloud levels of agility and service while meeting strict regulatory and security requirements.”
